Legal

Terms and conditions

The simple rules for ordering a book made for one child. We kept them short. If something is not clear, ask us on WhatsApp.

Last updated 5 November 2026

Draft — needs legal review before launch

This text is a proposal. Some points still need business and legal confirmation.

Who we are

Doodota is a small studio in Cairo, Egypt. We make personalized books for children, drawn from your photos and printed in Egypt.

When we say “we” or “us”, we mean Doodota. When we say “you”, we mean the person who places the order.

You can reach us on WhatsApp. The number on this page is a placeholder until our support line is ready.

Our full company details will be added here before launch. Needs confirmation

What you buy

You buy a personalized printed coloring book, made to order for one child. We only make it after you order it.

  • 12 coloring pages. Each photo you upload becomes one page. The other pages are illustrated adventures starring your child.
  • A cover and front pages, like a “This book belongs to” page and an optional dedication.

Our AI illustrator draws the adventures, and we check every page before print.

Size, paper and cover options are on the product page and can still change before launch. Needs confirmation

The preview and your approval

  • You see every page of the book before anything is printed.
  • Before you approve, you can ask for a redraw, change an adventure, or swap a photo.
  • The number of free redraws per book may be limited. Needs confirmation
  • Nothing is printed until you approve.
  • Once you approve, the book is final. We print exactly what you approved, so we cannot change it after that.
  • The pages are drawings, not photos. Your child's likeness can vary a little from page to page.

Your photos and the permission you give us

The photo license and how long we keep photos need legal review.

When you upload photos, you confirm that:

  • you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or you have the parent's permission, and
  • you have the right to use these photos.

You give us a limited permission (a license) to use the photos only to make, print and deliver your book, and to help you when you contact us. This means:

  • We never use your photos to train AI.
  • We never use your photos or your book in ads or on social media without your written permission.
  • We keep and delete photos as the Privacy page explains. You can delete your project yourself before printing starts.

Photos we cannot use

Please upload only photos that are right for a children's book.

  • No photos of other people's children without their parent's permission.
  • Nothing unlawful, hurtful, violent or sexual.
  • No photos you do not have the right to use.

We may refuse or cancel an order if the photos break these rules. If that happens, we tell you why on WhatsApp.

Prices and payment

Prices, fees and timings are placeholders until launch.

Prices are in Egyptian pounds (EGP) and are set in the shop. You see the book price, the shipping fee and the total at checkout, before you pay.

You can pay in one of two ways:

  • Pay the full amount online.
  • Pay a 50% deposit online, and the rest in cash to the courier on delivery. Needs confirmation

Because every book is made for one child, cash on delivery always needs a deposit first.

If you pay with a reference code at a payment kiosk, the code expires after 48 hours. If it is not paid in time, the order expires and nothing is printed. Needs confirmation

The payment methods we offer depend on our payment partner at launch. Needs confirmation

Delivery

We deliver to all 27 governorates of Egypt. Delivery times, fees and what happens at the door are on the Shipping page.

Cancellations, refunds and reprints

Refund rules need business and legal confirmation.

Every book is made for one child, so returns work a little differently. The Returns and reprints page explains when you can cancel, what we refund, and when we reprint for free.

What we are responsible for

This section is a draft and needs legal review.
  • If your book arrives damaged or misprinted, or it is not the book you approved, we reprint it for free.
  • We do our best to deliver on time. Sometimes couriers are late for reasons we cannot control, like bad weather, holidays or closed roads. If that happens, we keep you updated on WhatsApp and do our best to help.

Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under Egyptian consumer law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add new products or payment methods. Every version is dated at the top of this page.

The version that applies to your order is the one online when you placed it.

Which law applies

Being confirmed with a lawyer.

These terms follow the laws of Egypt.

If something goes wrong, please talk to us first. Most problems are solved with one WhatsApp message.
